Research Interest Statement
John Mullahy’s research focuses on the economic aspects of population health. His work on models for health care cost/utilization was recognized by the Kenneth Arrow Best Paper Award from the International Health Economics Association in 2002. This research demonstrated the importance of statistical and econometric modeling assumptions and methods in the analysis of such outcomes. Mullahy also continues methodological research on how best to model statistically such population health outcomes as health-related quality of life, health care costs, and time use.
