Research Interest Statement
atrick Remington’s research focuses on cancer epidemiology and control, with a focus on breast cancer and tobacco use. In recent years, Remington has led a multidisciplinary team of investigators to identify possible explanations for geographic variation in breast cancer rates in Wisconsin. The data have to date been used to examine the impact on breast cancer of individual-level exposures to such environmental conditions as electro-magnetic fields.

Remington also studies the effectiveness and use of clinical preventive services in populations. His research has identified characteristics and trends in mammography utilization, and evaluated the effectiveness of interventions to increase the use of breast and cervical cancer screening in low-income, rural populations. Earlier research demonstrated the effectiveness of a telephone reminder system for breast and cervical cancer screening among low-income women.
