Research Interest Statement
Jane Cooley’s research focuses on peer effects within the classroom on educational outcomes, with an emphasis on how to improve achievement for traditionally disadvantaged children. Recent work has investigated the effects of desegregation on achievement gaps. She has also studied the underlying causal mechanisms of peer influence, developing implications for the interpretation of statistical models of peer effects and how statistical models may be applied to determine how alternative groupings may affect student outcomes.
