Submission Guidelines

Firm Policy on Submission Length

The JHR has a hard limit on all initial submissions: 45 pages in length including footnotes, references, appendixes, and any other supplementary material. The text must be in Times Roman font, 12 point type, double spaced, with at least one-inch margins. Do not include appendixes or other materials that increase the length of your total submission beyond 45 pages—even if they are not for publication. Neither the editors nor the reviewers will read more than 45 pages. The only exception to double spacing is that tables may be single spaced and—if necessary for clarity—may be in smaller Times Roman type, but no smaller than 10 points. Again, this exception is for tables only.
