An introduction to the DATA step.
Often a major step in analyzing data is simply preparing the data for use with a statistical PROC.
In SAS, the DATA step is key to generating new variables, recoding variables, and if-then processing, as well as variable labeling, and value formating.
Understanding the DATA step will also be key to reading data into SAS, subsetting data, merging data sets, and reshaping data, all topics we will address later.
