SAS 8: Macros

An introduction to SAS macro programming.

If you find yourself cutting and pasting code while just changing a few variable names here and there, it is time to think about macro programming. Macro programming is writing programs to generate programming language.

The SAS Macro language is an extension of the SAS programming language. The Macro language allows you to dynamically create code by substituting text in SAS statements, conditionally execute DATA or PROC steps, or write code that can be used over and over in the same or different programs.
