I am currently a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I hold a Master’s in Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Affairs, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Washington.

My research examines social inequality and stratification. My scholarly interest is focused on investigating structures and processes that ameliorate or exacerbate social inequalities. Thus far in my scholarship, I have focused on social and education policy and schools as sites of stratification, and race as a particularly salient social division. A number of my projects investigate the ways that policies function as mechanisms of equalization and stratification; specifically the ways that specific features of policy design shape structures of opportunity for historically marginalized populations.
