Try printing your JSTOR and ProQuest files on the printers in the I/O Room (4411A) and you'll find that they now print much faster. We added memory to these printers this week and it has made a dramatic improvement in processing speed. Soon we will be replacing the three printers in the 7413 Terminal Room with ones similar to the I/O Room printers providing an alternative location for printing JSTOR and ProQuest files.
STAT/TRANSFER 6 is now available on WinCenter and supports SAS version 8 and STATA version 7 data sets. Unfortunately, the producers of STAT/TRANSFER are no longer offering the building-wide site license SSCC had with previous versions. If you want a copy for your PC, you can purchase it through the STATA Grad Plan for $49.
The following three publications are now available from SSCC's web page:
Limiting Access to a
Web Page
Accessing UNIX Files using
Windows
Working with Data Sets
in ASCII Text Format
Also, note that Using STATA on UNIX has been updated to include version 7 information.
We will soon be replacing the PCs in the I/O Room (4411A) and the 2470 Terminal Room with new PCs which will not have DAT drives. (They will have CD ROM rewritable drives.) If you have any data stored on a DAT tape, you should use the PC in 2470 to copy the data to a CD. We will make sure to keep the old PCs around for several months just in case.
