SSCC's Spring Training Schedule
New SSCC Web Server
Upgrading to Stata 8
SSCC's Spring training schedule is now available on SSCC's training web pages. We have three new sessions: "Working with SAS Informats and Formats Including Dates", "Printing Conference Posters on Large Format Paper", and "Formatting Your Dissertation in Word." The old reliables like "Intro to SAS", "Intro to Stata", and "Creating a Web Page" are still there as well. Remember that all SSCC training sessions require preregistration. Register early before sessions fill!
This week we moved SSCC's web server to a new Linux computer. SquirrelMail users especially should notice increased performance. Unlike SSCC's previous web server, the new server is dedicated soley to web services. If you have an SSCC web site that contains any CGI scripts, you should check to make sure they are running properly. It's possible that we may be missing a library that your script uses. Also, compiled CGI scripts need to be recompiled. As always, please report any problems to Consultant.
Stata 8 has been released! For information about what has been changed, see the Stata 8 page on Stata's web site, but the highlights include publication quality graphics, the ability to execute commands using menus, ODBC support, object oriented programming, and improved speed. We expect to receive shipment for UNIX, Linux, and the Terminal Servers (WinStat1 and WinStat2) in the next couple of weeks.
Please note that the packages available through GradPlan and their prices have
changed significantly. In particular the packages available to students only
now include a one year license and must be renewed annually. Students can still
buy a one-time (perpetual) license, but at an increased cost. For details and
ordering information, visit SSCC's
GradPlan web page.
